Hello! I’m Dr. Nik Priest

Licensed Clinical Psychologist CA (PSY36627) and NY (027559)

I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and couples in California (PSY36627) and New York (027559).

    Therapeutic Orientation
I practice in an integrated and holistic therapeutic style, based upon collaboration, practicality, and creativity. My approach draws from mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic-existential, and feminist theories. I work to establish a trusting and supportive relationship, clear goals and methods, and hope for the future. I focus on helping my clients develop effective tools to improve health and well-being so they can reconnect with meaning and purpose. I believe our job in therapy is to ‘learn how to learn’ so you are more prepared for the future.

    Specialty
I specialize in working with trauma/PTSD, grief, sexuality, and chronic health issues. I also have general experience working with adjustment to major life events, anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship issues.

    Education
I hold an Associate’s degree in Massage Therapy from the Swedish Institute, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theatre from Indiana University – Bloomington, and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis.
